Anyway I was at lunch today with a bunch of kids, mostly older than me. I wasn't talking, just listening. This other girl from my grade starts talking about trans people. I don't get uncomfortable at all hearing talk about transgender people. I very much support transgenderism. I just got super worried hearing my classmates talk about transgendered people because I thought this girl would say horrible things. She said, "I don't get the whole trans thing. I watched this video on Buzzfeed..." And I swear she starts talking about the same video I had watched this morning. She continued, "he said it's all about not being comfortable in your own skin, so does that mean that if I wanted to be a dog, I could get turned into a dog?" And I kind of wanted to scream at her. I wanted to yell as loud as I could, "YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THE SITUATIONS PEOPLE ARE IN!" Because even if she doesn't understand the situation of a trans person as much as she could, she doesn't have to make fun of people that way. It made me upset. I think this girl was saying that because she thought it would get a laugh and that nobody would be offended. I was very much offended. I didn't say anything and I regret that. I suppose there's nothing I can do now.
