Intro
This post is showing the stories of Indigenous North Americans, who not only existed a long time ago, but also today. This 3-part post will showcase art and businesses, and though not every business has all its faces represented in my posts, I hope to represent how Natives are out there, living, creating, and making great work that should be supported.
Hero Twins is a comic book written and illustrated by Dale Deforest, a member of the Navajo nation. It centers two siblings who serve as protectors for the Navajo people. It is summarized as follows: "This story begins in 1860 as a calvary unit is sent to investigate a threat. While a winter storm rages around the unit, a mysterious officer makes a world-changing discovery. The comic Sixkiller is described as Alice In Wonderland meets Kill Bill set in Cherokee Country. It is written by Laguna Pueblo author and Native Realities' founder Lee Francis IV, illustrated by Tongva artist Weshoyot Alvitre. Sixkiller is summarized as follows: "When Alice Sixkiller's sister is murdered she embarks on a mysterious journey of revenge. But her quest won't be easy, especially as her schizophrenia pulls her further and further down the rabbit hole. As she is swept away from reality, the stories and characters of her people give her purpose and direction: to find her sister's killer and exact vengeance."
